Turn on ClearType for Firefox

Just discovered something tonight which I thought I'd share with all of you in case (like me) you didn't know...

I was visiting some web pages (with Firefox) and the text was all screwed up. I asked around and no one seemed to know how to fix this. The Microsoft ClearType page wasn't working and I was at a loss until Mark Poppen suggested going into my Display settings on my computer.

I did just that and viola! - clear type.

Here's how (for Windows XP): Go to Control Panel > Display > Appearance tab > Effects > and select 'ClearType' for 'Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts.'

Click OK, then Apply, and OK again and you're all set.

Thanks, Mark :)

Great tip, I've had the same issues at times! Off to try it out.

Maybe I'm just used to seeing the fonts without it, but I think I like it better off.

A good tip, but wouldn't you just always have it on anyway? Its not just a Firefox feature.

A great tip. Firefox by default doesn't show it... So it's mostly firefox users that realize they need it. Thanks.

I too had noticed font appearing mucked on several websites. Even on my own when I was designing.....I found it happened in FF but not in IE. Come to find out, if you open FF, go to View>Zoom>Zoom Text Only that fixed it.

Congrats on your business card winning, btw.

Cheers,

Chris
