My latest creation. Well, not really a new creation. I've had this design sitting on a CD for probably ten years or so. It was going to be the template for my first web site, but it got scrapped in favor of something else. Truth be told I just didn't know how to code it to make it work on a web page. I resurrected it again for a contest that was being held at Website Babble Forums.

I was going to name my first business web site Planet 9 Design, hence the idea for this. I just thought it was a cool name for a web site. I even created special planet symbols to use in the link "globes" and made a crop circle image with one of them (which is the background image I used in the green sliding door panel in the left sidebar). I had a blast creating this whole design, but in the end I never used it and it got stuck on a CD where it's been lounging away until this contest came along.
I am not a coder by any stretch of the imagination so in order to make a web page out of this design I had to download the free trial version of CoffeeCup to code it. You can check out my fully functioning web entry here.
Unfortunately, the design was disqualified from the contest by the forum owner. I guess my design wasn't boring enough for her. Below are her reasons for this (kind of nit-picky if you ask me).
If the woman was half the web builder she claims to be she whould know you can just right click on an image to check it's dimensions. Sheesh. Anyway, I had a blast creating it and it was great to dust off one of my old beloved designs and give it life on the web. If you're interested in the design that actually did win you can check it out here.
So what about you? Have any old designs lounging around somewhere? Dust them off and breath some fresh life into them.

"As it stands, this design would not qualify. Your header is not the right height. I measured around 142 for the entire height and the rules state 125. Also the height of the nav doesn't seem to be right either.
It's very hard to tell with this design because it's all graphics so everything is sort of merged together and I had to use Photoshop to measure heights of areas. Just to make sure you don't get disqualified it's best to create a design that has a clear cut nav and header (like my mock up) and the widths and heights are defined in the code so there is no question you've met the requirements. Your left nav is fine as it's 180 but the header and nav don't really fit the requirements.
You did fine on the widths but you missed the heights. But again with the header and nav sort of being merged together it's hard to tell."

I like the template of your web design. It looks fabulous specially I like the black background and green fonts in the front side.
Thank you. It's an oldie but a goodie. Now if I could just find a use for it.
