The End of TBODC?

Times are toughMy unemployment situation has just took a turn for the worst and so I'm having to make a few living adjustments. As much as I hate to do it I may have to let this blog go along with a few other expenditures. I will try to find a way to keep things afloat, but right now that doesn't look too promising.

Since I won't be paying to renew my domain then this blog will eventually be gone. I have been trying to find a way to move the blog onto my one remaining domain (dougdraws.com), but so far I haven't been able to find a workable solution.

I want to thank all of you who have commented and subscribed to TBODC. It has been fun and I hope you have enjoyed the ride. I know I have.

I hope everyone has a great Christmas and an even greater New Year.

God bless.

Are you serious..? It's my favourite blog, I learned so much thing about design here. But, well, the decision is yours. Just pray the best for you, and thanks a lot for all you've done with this blog.

Bravo!

Thanks. Like I said in the post it's because of hard times that I have to start making these cutbacks. My unemployment barely pays my bills and rent so I can't afford to be paying for domains and other expenditures.

One domain I can afford, but I haven't figured out how to put this blog on WP - yet.

What a hard decision this must be. You really need a 'buy me a latte' box --- I'm sure your loyal readers would send you enough to at least keep the domain name for another year. I'll be the first to do it. I know the godaddy registrar charges less than $10/yr while others go as high as $40.

As for moving to your other domain. You should be able to have the home page be static and point to your non-blog pages. Then add a menu item for the blog. I know WP lets you define a page as your entry point. My team blog, bloggingwithsuccess.net is on WP and I have a blogspot blog.

At least you still have your posts on Blogger, so just revert back to the blogspot name to archive your content...

All the best to you in the new year...

I'm looking at a couple of WP templates that give you a 'traditional' website with a blog (all on same host, one domain name): the eBusiness template from Elegant Themes and the WPRemix which you have to pay for, but you may be able to find something close for free - search for 'WP CMS and Blog'...

SBA, I appreciate the offer, but I actually want to move this blog to WP. I'm tired of having multiple domains and paying for all of them so I want to consolidate everything down to my WP site.

How much would it cost to renew the domain name on this site? put up a pay pal donate button! It's free!!! you provide a service to the online community why not ask for donations! I'll be the first to help out.

Morethancc, SBA, thanks for the tip. I've decided to give the donations thing a try. I made a "Buy Me a Latte" graphic and placed it in the right sidebar at the bottom. I was thinking of putting it near the top, but I don't want to appear desperate.

Never done this before so let me know if it's working. Thanks for your support.
